depression problem

depression problemFor about two weeks now, I feel something is wrong with my partner. She feels tired almost every day, has difficulty concentrating, and gaining weight. But, when I talked to her in a serious tone, she will burst into tears and often say she doesn’t have any problems. Of course that is something that I need to take it serious as she may be depressed without her realizing it.

Depression is very common. It affects people of every color, race, economic status, or age; however, it does seem to affect more girls than guys. But, I learned that love, kindness, or support can alleviate the sadness that will soon pass. But, if the depressed feeling doesn’t pass with a little time, it is recommended that person get help from a doctor, therapist, or counselor for a depression treatment.

Good thing she breaks off her silence last Sunday. She is slightly depressed to the fact that she wasn’t able to accomplish her goals and dreams for her family. Well, I listened to her intently without distracting her in between, as I always do, to make her feel better. After, I gave little comments that I hope might make her realize the world isn’t always a dreamland.

    Hiya,

Human moods are a complex subject – determined by a whole host of factors.

Support from people around can be good, of course, but the real solution is to encourage the person who’s suffering to help themselves.

There’s plenty of ways of doing that.

Acceptance can be a good way of dealing with it. Realising that everyone has ups and downs, and then just accepting how things are. Long-term mindfulness meditation trains this up pretty well – enlightened buddahist masters do experience the sensations associated with depression – it’s just that those sensations do not make them depressed :)

Another way is encouraging them to be inspired – to find out what it is they would really like to have in their life and then start working towards that. This creates a series of positive emotions and productive actions which alleviate feelings of frustration or defeat.

Anyway… I could talk about this sort of thing all day.

    Rich
